OVERCOMING PORNOGRAPHY AND OTHER SEXUAL ADDICTIONS.

NP_20160618_TLBINGE-JGJ_1297843These habits affects ONE’S Spiritual, physical, psychological, neurological, being. Some areas, counseling may help, some remedial treatment, some if not all need God to Deliver you. The sexual temptation is so rampant in this day and age. Here, i will share some ways, which might help someone in their battle with these addictions. It is more like a strategy, which one can adopt. It is important to note, when fighting such addictions, one need to be honest with Himself. The order is not chronological, but just for point separation

1) Identify your weak momemnts, and avoid situations that may lead you to visit sites, or get hold of pornographic materials. Now the Word teaaches us that we ought to resist the Devil, and he will flee away (James 4:7). In the message “How can I overcome” William Branham says,  Overcome means “to recognize the devil in every one of his tricks.” What is key here is to specifically to know situations which you feel more at risk. Is it those lonely nights when there is no one to chat with, and you find yourself needing some gratification. You ought to  be honest, and identify those moments. When you have identified them, make sure you find a Godly activity to do at such times. You might read the Bible, listen or watch recored sermons, start prayer chains then. This is important, because scientist say, our minds are malliable, they can, with time adjust to a certain way of doing things.

2) Check what is leading you to watch, or engage in such activities. The driving force, psycological reason, root of weakness. This is now tracing the cause of such behaviour. is it that you just like the films, books or literature. Aren’t there other material or ways that can save the same purpose. For instance one young man said he was involved in pornography because he couldn’t stand the fact that amongst his peers he wasa the only one single. When ask why he was single, seeing he had almost neccessary things to be married (physically and materially). He said, God wasn’t giving him the rightful partner, regardless of how good he had been. Further digging revealed that he was angry with God “For not giving him a wife.” he felt God owed him, a wife is return for “his good behaviour.” So instead of being told to just stop watching porn and stuff, the youngman needed to solve his relationship with God, and be made to understand that “God does not owe any man or woman anything.” Our relationship with God, as Christians, isn’t about doing good, in return for favors. God is not bribed. So identify the main reason, why you are in such behavior.

3) Seek guidance and counselling. One thing that is hard for most human beings, is to let out their secret closet. If you follow William Branham as I do, you might have come across him sayin, if i could only get william Branham out of the way, and Let God take control. He also says in “How can I Overcome”,  “The thing you have to overcome is yourself, your idea, your thing, and surrender yourself to Him.” I know it sounds easier said than done, but it is an important step in the fight against anything. The human mind is so designed that it always, wants to find a way out, even when it is caged. Most research have revealed, that addicts, would at one point tried to stop, but they found their selves back in it again. Haven’t you done the same? Generally, the ways you want to employ are for “FACE SAVING” not neccesarilly that you need help. Most times, it is all about trying to cover so that nobody else senses, that something is amiss. BUT my friend, be honest with yourself, this battle you need not to save face. Forget you idea, seek help, from you Pastors, Parents, even if you think Psychologists, will help, go for it. But above all… CONTINUE ASKING GOD TO HELP YOU.

PROGRESS IN THE FIGHT CAN BE MARKED BY DIFFERENT METERS. BELOW IS AN EXCERPT FROM DAVID POWLISON
*A decrease in the frequency of a sin is a true good. It’s not good that you are still indulging in pornography, but if you are doing it less, you are going in the right direction.
*A change in the actual nature of the sin is progress. If you are no longer having an affair or premarital sex, and now you are battling pornographic fantasy, it’s good that your struggle has changed from your actions to your imagination.
*A change in the battleground is progress. When your battle has moved from purchasing materials or going onto explicit internet sites to battling the old fantasy tapes that are still in your mind, that’s movement in the right direction.

*An increase in honesty and accountability is progress. You are moving forward when you are willing to be truly candid and accountable to a trusted friend, spouse, or pastor and say, “Here’s where I’m struggling.” An appropriate openness to others is a very significant step towards change.
*Not always responding to difficult circumstances by indulging in sin is progress. If your life gets hard and instead of going straight to your fantasy life, you pray for help and ask others to pray for you, then God is at work.
*Repenting more quickly is progress. Learning to go more quickly to the Lord of life, instead of wallowing for days, weeks, and months in the gloom of “I failed again,” is a sign that God is at work in your life.

He also proposed keeping a juornal of activities, especially if you want to track how it is hapenning in your life. Below are some questions which might be helpful.

When does it happen? What is going on? What happened that day?
What were you thinking about? What was the nature of the temptation?
What did you do about it? Did you act on it?
If you didn’t act on it, how did that happen?
If you did what did you do after you fell?
How did you recover? What was the after-effect?

BUT ALWAYS REMEMBER THE DEVIL IS ONLY DEFEATED BY THE WORD OF GOD. The best weapon you should have in your arsenal is The word. Not on your iPad, Android, PC or hardcopy. That one is good, but the Best is that which is within you. Remember the “Greatest Battle Ever Fought” is within the Human’s mind. Like David always make sure the WORD is hid in YOUR heart so that you cannot sin against God.

105 Overcome means “to recognize the devil in every one of his tricks.” Lot of people says, “There is no devil. It’s just a thought.” Don’t you believe that. There’s a real devil. He’s just as real as you are, anybody. A real devil, and you must recognize him real. You must know he’s a devil. Then, the same time that you—you recognize him, and know that he’s a devil and he’s against you, then, to overcome, you must recognize that the God in you is greater and mightier than he is, that the One that’s in you has already overcome him. And, by His grace, you are more than a match for him. Amen. There’s real overcoming, when you recognize. 106 You look back, say, “I’m doing this and I’m doing that,” then, no, you—you, you’re defeated. “But there’s no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, that walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Then you realize that you’ve overcome. And you know that he’s a devil. You can’t say, “I got a sickness, and I—I—I—I don’t believe it is a sickness.” Oh, yes, it is a sickness. You got cancer, you “don’t believe it is a cancer.” It is a cancer. It is a cancer. But, remember, “Greater is He that’s in you than he that’s in the world.” You must realize that the Holy Spirit that’s in you has already overcome this thing. And He’s in you, and you can overcome by Him. That’s exactly sensible, exactly the way the Scripture is written. Overcoming!
